Fès Poudre Hand-Glazed Ceramic Basin with Gold Band

The name comes from "rose poudré", French for powder pink, which is exactly this soft glaze. It also works as a gentle nod to the powder room, where a basin like this belongs. It's different from Fès Corail, which is a plain solid coral, and from Fès Rosa, which is patterned terracotta-rose. Poudre has a wide band of antique gold wrapped around the outside, just below the rim.

Fès Poudre Hand-Glazed Ceramic Basin with Gold Band

This basin is handmade in Fès, a city known for centuries of ceramic craftsmanship, and each one is shaped and glazed by artisans. It's soft, feminine and quietly glamorous.

The Fès Poudre Basin is finished in a glossy powder-pink glaze inside and out. A wide band of antique gold wraps around the outside just below the rim, and its brushed, slightly weathered texture gives it the look of aged gold leaf. The inside is left as a smooth expanse of pink, and a small foot raises the bowl off the benchtop.

The glaze and gold band are applied by hand, so the colour depth and gold texture vary slightly from piece to piece. No two basins are quite the same.

The rounded, gently flared bowl sits above the counter. It pairs well with polished chrome, brushed brass or aged gold tapware, and with white stone, cream marble, limestone and travertine benchtops. White walls or soft plaster also suit it. It works in modern glam, Parisian, eclectic, Art Deco-inspired and romantic interiors, and makes a charming statement in a powder room, guest bathroom or boutique retail space.

Each basin is made to order. Sizes start at 20 cm in diameter for compact powder rooms and guest bathrooms, and go up to larger statement sizes for main bathrooms and double vanities. Care

Clean with a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Take extra care around the gold band: avoid scouring pads, bleach and harsh chemicals, which can wear the finish over time.

Each basin is hand-thrown and hand-glazed, so slight variations in colour, glaze, gold finish and dimensions are natural to the craft and part of its charm. The weathered texture of the gold band is intentional. Waste, pop-up and tapware are sold separately. Installation by a licensed plumber is recommended.
