The difference between indoor and outdoor fountains
Outdoor water features usually tend to be more like a pond. This means that there is a larger basin at the bottom, and they can stand a larger amount of splashing. Outdoor fountains tend to be larger, and some of them involve doing construction to install. Indoor fountains will usually be smaller, and self-contained. Indoor fountains can be large and ornate, but a large number of them are meant for table or surface tops. As well, indoor fountains are usually powered by electricity. They have a power cord that can be plugged into an outlet in the home. Outdoor fountains require more attention. They might be specially made, complete with grounding plugs. This way, the water and lights in the fountain can operate without needing a standard plug.
Maintenance
Outdoor fountains will often accumulate a large amount of dirt and leaves. This means that they need to be frequently cleaned and checked up on. Indoor fountains require much less maintenance. The pump circulates the water and keeps everything clean and functioning. If you tried to put your indoor fountain outside, it would become dirty very quickly. The fountain’s modest amount of water would soon become filled with leaves and debris, and the pump might not be able to handle it.
Materials
Outdoor fountains are constructed with the purpose of being durable. They are meant to be outdoors in all sorts of weather and withstand intense storm conditions. Therefore these fountains are typically constructed with materials such as concrete or marble. Indoor fountains, on the other hand, are expected to be kept away from the harsh weather conditions. They are usually made from softer stones, such as copper and slate. If these fountains were to be left outside, the material would crack and wear away.
Although you may feel that indoor and outdoor fountains are interchangeable, this may be not the case. The fountains each have a specific purpose and should not be used for anything other than that purpose. Indoor fountains are made to be used inside buildings or similar structures. They will not last long if you set them up outside in the harsh weather.
However, many of our indoor fountains especially with a height over 80cm can easily be placed outside & weather the elements
