This basin is handmade in Fès, a city with centuries of ceramic craftsmanship, and each one is shaped and painted by artisans. It is bright and intricate, with a real sense of the Mediterranean.
The Fès Majorelle Basin is painted in vivid azure blue on warm ivory, with touches of teal. Concentric bands build out from the drain like a mandala. At the centre, an eight-pointed star of blue and teal leaves circles the drain, set within a scalloped ivory medallion. Around it sits a ring of fine geometric triangles and lattice. Above that is a band of overlapping scales, and finally a fine checked grid wraps the rim. A bright blue edge frames the whole design.
Every line, dot and grid is painted by hand, so the pattern has a precision and warmth that printed ceramics can't match. No two basins are quite the same.
The wide, rounded bowl sits above the counter and shows off the full painted interior. It pairs well with brushed brass or aged gold tapware, cream marble, limestone and travertine benchtops, and white or warm plastered walls. It suits coastal, Mediterranean, Greek-island, Moroccan and Hamptons interiors, and gives an ensuite, powder room or beach house a fresh, sunny feel.
