Fès Médina Hand-Painted Ceramic Basin
Fès el-Bali, the city's old medina, is where its potters have worked for centuries. That makes the name a good fit for the most traditional design in the range. Its sweeping cobalt ribbon, burgundy lattice panels, pinwheel roundels and dotted fields are all classic Fassi pottery motifs, and it's the piece in the collection that looks most like it came straight from the medina.

Product description
Fès Médina Hand-Painted Ceramic Basin
This basin is handmade in Fès, a city renowned for its ceramic heritage, and each one is shaped and painted by artisans. It's a genuine expression of traditional Fassi pottery.
The Fès Médina Basin is painted in cobalt blue, teal green, burgundy and saffron on warm ivory. A bold cobalt ribbon, filled with fine spirals, winds around the bowl in a continuous wave. In the curves of the ribbon sit pinwheel roundels in saffron, blue and green. They alternate with burgundy-framed panels of black and ivory lattice. Fields of fine cobalt dots, marked with saffron roundels, fill the spaces in between. A triangle border and a glossy green rim frame the design, and the pattern continues around the outside of the bowl.
Every line, dot and spiral is painted by hand, so the design has the richness and depth of true artisan work. No two basins are quite the same.
The wide, flared bowl sits above the counter and shows off the full painted interior. It pairs beautifully with brushed brass or aged gold tapware, cream marble, limestone and travertine benchtops, and warm plastered or tadelakt walls. It suits Moroccan, Andalusian, bohemian and eclectic heritage interiors. It makes a real centrepiece in a powder room, guest bathroom or boutique hospitality space.
