The Vergel is a garden fountain and a planter in one. A tall panel of weathering corten steel stands 150 cm high and holds an open planter trough along its top edge, so you can crown it with grasses, succulents, herbs or trailing greenery of your choice. Plants are not included.

Set into the front of the panel, a sleek water blade about 80 cm wide with a gold-tone lip releases a smooth, glassy sheet of water. It cascades down the rust-toned face into the full-width reservoir at the base, with a soft, steady sound that masks traffic and neighbours.

Corten steel develops a deep orange-brown rust patina that matures over time, so it sits naturally among planting, stone, timber and rendered walls. At night, the colour-changing LED light in the blade turns the falling water into a glowing curtain of colour, making the Vergel a striking feature for courtyards, entries, decks and pool areas.

A removable access door at the rear gives easy access to the pump and cabling for maintenance. Supplied with an electric pump and lighting, the Vergel is ready to enjoy once filled and connected to power.

CARE NOTES

• Corten steel may release rust run-off during the first months as the patina forms. Place it away from light-coloured paving, or protect the surrounding surface, until the patina stabilises.
• Keep the reservoir topped up so the pump never runs dry, especially in hot or windy weather.
• Use a liner or pot in the top planter, and choose plants suited to the position's sun and wind.
• Clean the pump regularly and use a fountain-safe water treatment to reduce algae.
• Place on a level, solid base such as concrete or compacted pavers.
• Colour and patina vary from piece to piece and continue to develop over time. This is a natural feature of corten steel.

THE NAME

Vergel (ber-HEL) is Spanish for a flower garden or orchard. It suits a fountain that is also a planter, with greenery growing on top and water flowing below. It sits well alongside Remanso, Caldera, Luna, Eclipse and Azabache in the corten range.
